Shelly Edmonson
Flagler County Tax Collector (2025-Present)
On January 7, 2025, Shelly Edmonson was sworn in as Flagler County’s 7th Tax Collector, following a distinguished 8-year career with the Flagler County Tax Collector’s Office. Her tenure included a wide range of roles that contributed to her extensive understanding of the office's operations.
Before joining the Tax Collector’s Office, Ms. Edmonson began her public service career at the Flagler County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office, where she worked for eight years. In 2003, she transitioned to entrepreneurship, becoming a small business owner and a Florida State Certified License Contractor in Flagler County for 18 years, before returning to public service.
During her time with the Tax Collector’s Office, Ms. Edmonson garnered a comprehensive understanding of all service lines and business operations. She notably served as project manager for the successful construction and grand opening of the Palm Coast Branch Office in 2021. This state-of-the-art facility now serves approximately 100,000 citizens annually.
A strong advocate for technology, she contributed to several key initiatives, including the implementation of a new Tax Collection and Cashiering software, a customer queuing system, a total website redesign, and other critical upgrades. Additionally, she was instrumental in securing a grant to fund important cybersecurity measures.
A lifelong resident of Flagler County, Ms. Edmonson graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida after attending Daytona State College. Public service is a core value that Ms. Edmonson inherited from her family. Her grandfather, Zip Edmonson, served as the Flagler County Sheriff from 1965 to 1980. Her father, Flynn Edmonson, was the Chief Investigator for the State Attorney’s Office, 7th Judicial Circuit of Florida. Her mother, Rabeth Nescio, recently retired after a remarkable 40-year career in Flagler County local government.
Ms. Edmonson is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Florida Tax Collectors Association, the Florida Association of Business Tax Officials, and the Florida Records Management Association. She is also involved with the Florida Tourist Development Tax Association, where she previously served as both Vice President and President.
