Dale Benton Brown, Jr.

Flagler County Tax Collector (1961-1980)

Mr. Brown was born in St. Johns Park in 1915. He was a Corporal in the United States Army serving approximately 20 months overseas in Italy during World War II. He had 370 combat days to his credit. He was a charter member of Flagler County’s first VFW post, serving as their judge advocate.

Mr. Brown was appointed Tax Collector in November 1961 when Robert Gayle Mercer resigned. He continued to serve as Tax Collector until he retired in 1980.
